The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) is the the largest professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.
The BACP Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists is a list of BACP members who have met the standards for registration. In addition, the Register has gained an important quality mark of accreditation by the Professional Standards Authority for Health & Social Care, which is an independent body accountable to Parliament.
All registrants are bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy. As such, all registrants are required have appropriate supervision and continuing professional development.
Some registrants have also sought a higher level of quality assurance through the BACP accreditation scheme and those members are clearly marked as 'accredited' on the Register.
Some of the therapists on the Register have a link to the BACP online directory of therapists in private practice and this will give more detail about their work. My entry on this directory can be found at http://www.itsgoodtotalk.org.uk/therapists/in/55cc75/oxfordshire/henley-on-thames/catherine-winchester
